About Us

We are full-time undergraduate students representing the University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada). We play competitive fastball against other University Teams in Ontario. The Ontario Intercollegiate Women's Fastpitch Association (OIWFA) is composed of thirteen teams: Windsor, Western, Waterloo, Laurier, McMaster, Guelph, Brock, Toronto, York, Ryerson, Ottawa, Carleton, and Queens.

The team originated in 2002, a group of students interested in the fastball decided to field a team and competed in exhibition games the first season. In 2003, the University of Waterloo Fastball Team was accepted into the OIWFA. At that point the league was composed of 10 teams. Since then two other universities were added to the league to make 12 teams spanning across Ontario from Windsor in the West to Ottawa in the East.

Currently the league is not recognized by the Ontario University Athletics Association (OUA). Some of the teams in the OIWFA receive funding from their own schools based on their description of varsity/club/competitive club. We are currently working towards receiving funding from our school. But in the meantime we do try to keep costs to a minimum and rely primarily on personal funding, but have in the past received funds from community sponsors.

Our season begins with tryouts in late August or early September, regular season games running from September to middle of October, and the championship for the league is held the second last weekend in October. Over the winter months (January-April) we condition indoors at a facility on-campus bi-weekly.

Whether you are a fan of the game or new to the sport, why not come out and see for yourself that fastball is an exciting game to both play and watch!
